We can tailor the days and times of trainings to match up with semester and class schedules. The students will be trained and supervised by The Spectrum. In depth training will occur at the beginning of the semester. Students will be closely supervised and coached, though they will have creative freedom with the content of the groups. lead small group activities for people with autism. Each semester, a new group of students will be trained to lead groups. Students will learn the basics of autism, and several techniques for communicating clearly with people on the spectrum. We will teach the use of social stories, social cartoons, schedules, power cards, and structured choice. Students will also explore conversational techniques such as scaffolding and rephrasing. Students will observe groups in action, and plan group content surrounding a theme.
